What are the scoring and format differences?
PTE scores every task with AI, including speaking, so there’s no human examiner in the loop and no inter-examiner variation. IELTS uses trained human markers and a live speaking interview. PTE reports on a 10–90 scale per skill plus overall; IELTS reports bands from 1 to 9.

PTE vs IELTS for Australia PR and Canada PR?
For Australia PR, both are accepted; PTE Academic proves English under the component-specific rules (Superior = L69/R70/W85/S88). For Canada PR, IRCC accepts PTE Core (not PTE Academic) alongside IELTS so the choice partly comes down to which test you perform best on.
