How do you prepare for a 65?
A 65 (broadly comparable to IELTS 7.0) is within reach for most upper-intermediate learners in a few weeks. Spend the first week learning every task format, then drill the high-yield, integrated tasks, Read Aloud, Repeat Sentence, Write from Dictation that lift several skills at once.
At this level the fastest gains come from accuracy, not vocabulary. Tighten spelling in dictation tasks, keep your speaking fluent and clear, and stop losing easy marks to careless errors. A couple of full mock tests will show you where the last few points are hiding.

How do you prepare for a 79?
A 79 all-round (≈ IELTS 8.0) takes more time, and almost all of it goes into Writing and Speaking. This matters for migration: under the August 2025 rules, Australia’s Superior band specifically needs Writing 85 and Speaking 88, so if PR is your goal, treat those two skills as needing a near-perfect push.

Build a four-to-eight week block: refine your essay and summary writing around the prompt’s own keywords, drill describe-image and re-tell-lecture for content and fluency, and run weekly timed mocks to hold your nerve under pressure.
